DMSc, Professor Hanna S. Saturska

Started working at the Ternopil State Medical Academy from January 2002.

On The Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management from September 2014.

In 1997, she graduated from the Ternopil State Medical Institute.

In 2009, she defended thesis for the degree of candidate of Medical Sciences (specialty 14.03.04 – Pathological physiology) on topic: "Characteristics of the cholinergic regulation of heart at the adrenaline damage of myocardium in animals of different gender with applying of opioid receptors’ modulators".

She is the author and co-author of over 115 scientific works.

In 2016, she defended her doctoral thesis on "Pathogenic features of development of diffuse ischemic-necrotic cardiosclerosis at various sensitivity of an organism to hypoxia", specialty - 14.03.04 – Pathological physiology.

Research interests:

Pathology of heart, myocardium damage, disorders of heart rhythm;

Molecular mechanisms of human pathology;

Mathematical modeling of health management;

Public health.


Professor Arkadii H. Shulhai,

Vice-Rector for Science and Education

Ukrainian scientist in the field of medicine.

Graduated with honors from Kremenets Medical College in 1984. After graduation, he worked as Head of Rural Health Clinics in Bila village of the Ternopil region.

In the years 1984-1986, he did his military service in the armed forces.

In 1992, he graduated from the Ternopil State Medical Institute, specialty "General Medicine".

From 1992, at the Ternopil Medical University: postgraduate student at the Department of Operative Surgery and Topographic Anatomy (1992-1993), Assistant Professor (1993-1997), Associate Professor (1997-2003) of the same Department; Head of the Student Scientific Society (1993-1995); Head of the University Trade Union (1995-2008); Head of the Department of Social Medicine, Organization and Economics of Health Care, and Medical Statistics (2003-2014), Professor of the same Department from 2014; Acting Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate Education (2006-2007); Dean of the Medical Faculty (2007-2014). Currently: Professor of the Department of Social Medicine, Organization and Economics of Health Care, and Medical Statistics, Vice-Rector for Science and Education.

Acting Rector of the Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University (October 2014 – February 2015).

Research: In 1995, he defended his thesis on "Morphofunctional Characteristic of the Pancreas Vascular Bed under Obstructive Cholestasis Conditions and its Correction." In 2007, he defended his doctoral thesis on "Patterns of Morphological Changes in the Vascular Bed of Small and Large Intestine at Obstructive Jaundice and Different Ways of its Correction"

Awarded the title of Associate Professor in 1999, and the title of Professor – in 2007.

Member of the Academic Council of Ternopil State Medical University, member of the Publishing Board of the CMC of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, member of the Specialized Academic Council.

During the 2009 flu epidemic, he organized the region's single telephone hotline at the University.

Author of 245 scientific papers, 19 patents, 1 textbook, 2 guidebooks, 3 monographs. He has mentored three candidates of medical sciences.

He has received awards from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, note of thanks from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, the Central Committee of the Trade Union of Ukraine, deeds from the Ternopil Region State Administration and the Ternopil Regional Council.

Research interests: organizational and methodological support for the doctors of general practice-family medicine.


Professor Oleksander M. Holyachenko

Started working at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management in 1983

In 1963, he graduated from the Medical Faculty of Vinnytsia Medical Institute.

In 1967, he defended his thesis on "History of Development of Medical Work in the USSR (1864-1964)". He defended his Doctoral thesis on "Social and Hygienic Conditions of Providing Accessible Hospital Care to Rural Population" in 1979.

Author of over 200 scientific papers, mostly in the field of Social Medicine, including 21 monographs. His works highlight the history of medicine and healthcare in Ukraine, socio-hygienic aspects of health care, multidisciplinary management of hospitals, economics of Ukrainian healthcare. Co-author of the independent Ukraine's first 3 textbooks on Social Medicine and History of Medicine.

Research interests:

Health reform in Ukraine;

Advantages of general clinical examination of the rural population;

History of Ukrainian medicine;

New approaches to the economics of Ukrainian healthcare;

Mathematical modeling of health management.


Associate-Professor Nataliia Ya. Panchyshyn

Nataliia Panchyshyn works at Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management from December 2000.

In 1994 she graduated from Ternopil State Medical University in specialty "Medicine". In 1997 she was graduated master's degree in the specialty "internal medicine".

In 2001 she defended thesis for the degree of candidate of Medical Sciences (specialty 14.01.02 – Internal Medicine) on topic: "Syndrome of endogenic intoxication in lupoid nephropathy patients and its correction on the stage of hospitals treatment".

She is the author and co-author 130 teaching and scientific publications.

Research interests:

Mathematic modeling of health care management;

Assessment of work of medical staff at clinical departments;

Key trends of demographic changes in the population of Ukraine.


Professor Hryhorii I. Korytskyi

Started working at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management in September 2016

In 1982, he graduated from the Ternopil State Medical Institute, Specialty "General Medicine".

MD since 2016. Defended his thesis on 26.02.2016 at the meeting of the Specialized Scientific Council D 26.613.07 at the P.Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Specialty "Social Medicine".

Research interests:

Optimization of highly specialized medical care for children;

Reforming the healthcare sector in Ukraine;

History of medicine.

Associate-Professor Olha N. Lytvynova

Started working at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management in 1992

In 1984, she graduated from the Ternopil State Medical Institute, Specialty "General Medicine". In 1990-1993, she had her residency at the Department of Social Medicine and Organization of Health Care at the Ternopil State Medical Institute, specializing in Social Hygiene and Public Health. In 1992, she graduated from the Ternopil Institute of Finance and Economics, specializing in Social and Economic Planning. In 2000, she graduated from the Academy of Public Administration at the President of Ukraine, Specialty Public Administration, and was awarded the Master's Degree in Public Administration.

Candidate of Medical Sciences since 2003. Theme of the thesis: "Combined Impact of Environmental Factors on the Incidence of Residents of Large Towns (on the example of Ternopil)" (Specialty 14.02.01 – Hygiene). Co-author of the Law of Ukraine "Fundamentals of the Legislation of Ukraine on Health Care"

Author of the books "Management and Leadership in Nursing", "Basics of Economic Theory", monograph "Doctor who Guards the Health", co-author of the guidebook "100 Questions of Economic Theory", co-author of 5 study guides, author of 76 audiovideolectures for the course of Health Economics, Management and Social Medicine, author of over 130 scientific publications.

Started working at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management in August 2006

2004 – Master's Degree in International Business Management from the Ternopil National Economic University; 2005 – Master's Degree in English Linguistics from V. Hnatiuk Ternopil National Pedagogical University

2013 – defended his PhD thesis "Ergonyms of the Ternopil region in the late 20th and early 21st centuries".

Authored and co-authored 23 publications, 5 study guides.

Quality of medical services, its features, importance and factors;

Competition in medicine, its impact on the functioning of the health system;

Quantity of healthcare facilities and medical staff;

Information resources for the healthcare.

Lyuba Romaniuk works at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management from September 1984

In 1982 she graduated from Ternopil State Medical Institute in specialty "Medicine".

In 1991 she defended thesis for the degree of candidate of Medical Sciences (specialty 14.02.03 – Social Medicine ) on topic: " The scientific study of population health center in rural medical area"

Associate-Professor Valentyna L. Smirnova

Started working at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management in 1991

In 1983, she graduated from the Ternopil State Medical Institute, specialty "General Medicine". From December 1986 until August 1991 she continued her post-graduate training at the Department of Social Medicine and Organization of Healthcare of the Ternopil State Medical Institute.

Candidate of Medical Sciences since 1992. Theme of the thesis: "Health of Single-Parent Families Living in Rural Areas and Measures for its Improvement" (Specialty 14.00.33 - Social Hygiene and Organization of Healthcare).

She is the author and co-author of 117 publications, 1 textbook, 3 monographs, 1 guidebook and 10 study guides, 3 innovations.

Mathematical modeling of healthcare management;

Evaluation of the medical staff of clinical departments;

Calculating the cost of medical care at the level of family doctor;

Associate-Professor Natalia O. Terenda

Started working at the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management in 2002

In 1993, she graduated from the Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University, specialty "General Medicine". In 1995, she got her Master's Degree in the specialty "Therapy". Until 1998, she continued her postgraduate training at the Department of Faculty Therapy of the Ivan Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical University.

Candidate of Medical Sciences since 2001. Theme of the thesis: "Clinical and Immunological Heterogeneity in Patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus with HBs-Antigenemia and its Correction" (Specialty 14.01.02 – Internal Diseases).

Currently working on a thesis for the degree of Doctor of Medical Sciences on the topic: "Development and Establishment of Cardiology in Ukraine"

She is the author and co-author of 62 publications.

Research interests:

Cardiovascular pathology in Ukraine;

Calculation of potential of medical personnel at the secondary level;

Calculation of cost of health care at the secondary level;

Associate-Professor Nina Ye. Romaniuk

Nina Fedchyshyn works at Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management from September 2003

In 2002 she graduated from Horbachevsky Ternopil State Medical Academy in specialty "Medicine". In 2003 she was graduated master's degree in the specialty "internal medicine".

In 2006 she defended thesis for the degree of candidate of Medical Sciences (specialty 14.02.03 – Social Medicine ) on topic: "Optimization model of care for patients with acute myocardial infarction in rural areas".

She is the author and co-author 98 teaching and scientific publ.

Associate-Professor Rostyslav D. Levchuk

Joined the Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management in September 2017

1986 – graduated from the Ternopil State Medical Institute, Specialty " Medicine".

1987 – Ternopil State Medical Institute, internship in the Specialty "Surgery”.

2009 – graduated from the Ternopil National Economic University, direction - Management of Organizations, Specialty – manager-economist.

2017 – defended PhD thesis "Pathogenetic features of enteral dysfunction in terms of brain, skeletal injuries and their combinations" for the degree of candidate of Medical Sciences.

Authored and co-authored 50 publications.

Nataliia Slobodian works at Department of Public Health and Healthcare Management from September 2003.

In 2001 she graduated from the Faculty of Management in Production of Ternopil Ivan Puluj National Technical University in specialty "Management".

In 2015 she defended thesis for the degree of candidate of Economics Sciences (specialty 08.00.04 – Economics and Enterprises Management) on topic: «Improvement of social and humanitarian component management of economic activity of the industrial enterprise» She is the author and co-author 20 teaching and scientific publications.
